Palouse STEAM Summit
2018 Palouse STEAM Summit
The Palouse STEAM Summit will host speakers and workshops to discuss different STEAM activities happening throughout the Palouse. By promoting and learning from each other, our hope is that we will be able to spread a love for STEAM education throughout the region.
Cost of Event: $10
Scholarships are available, for more information please contact Jamie Gaber (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Our keynote speaker, Rachel Jameton is the director for the Center for Teaching and Learning at Lewis-Clark State College. She has a B.A. in chemistry at Franklin and Marshall College and doctoral degree in organic chemistry at the University of Utah. With experience directing science camps, after school programming, and outreach activities, as well as experience in science curriculum design and teaching college students she will be discussing ways to encourage students of all ages to express their ideas and foster creative potential.
These short 5-10 minute presentations will be used to highlight current projects in the area relating to STEAM education. Meant to inform the audience about current projects, we hope the audience will walk away having learned something new about STEAM efforts on the Palouse.
These 1 hour workshops are intended to give attendees some tools to incorporate into their own STEAM projects. Our presenters range from members of local STEAM organizations to professors at Washington State University.
